Poco

at The Lyric Theatre Apr 11, 2015 6:00 pm

The brainchild of Buffalo Springfield members Richie Furay and Jim Messina, Poco boldly paved the way for country rock music. Blending southern twang, delicate vocal harmonies, and toe-tapping rhythms, Poco continues to draw audiences of all ages and backgrounds. With hits like “Crazy Love” and “Heart of the Night,” Poco has established their reputation as one of the defining country rock bands of the 20th century.

After the widely popular American-Canadian rock band Buffalo Springfield broke up in 1968, members Richie Furay and Jim Messina made it their mission to continue pushing country and rock music boundaries. Joining together with Rusty Young, Randy Meisner, and George Grantham, Furay and Messina formed Poco. With their debut album Pickin’ Up the Pieces, Poco made it clear that they were here to stay. The release received a perfect rating from Rolling Stone Magazine and is still celebrated as one of the greatest country music albums of all time. Over the next 40 years, Poco would continue to produce innovative rock music, releasing over 24 original albums and dozens of chart-topping hits. Their 13th album, Legend, proved to be their most successful release of all time, achieving the ever-coveted Platinum status.

Since 1968, Poco has been on the road for over 45 years. With original member Rusty Young on guitar and vocals, Poco also features Jack Sundrud on bass, Michael Webb on keyboard, and George Lawrence on drums.
