Doc Grober and the Mudcats are back with their signature Florida sound! This February, the Doc returns with his famous Dixieland Jazz band in a new show called New Orleans Jazz. With the help of his loyal band, Doc Grober performs exciting and unique jazz pieces that gets new listeners interested and keeps his fans coming back for more. Performing every show with surgical precision, Doc Grober and the Mudcats bring the sounds of the south to The Lyric stage this season with New Orleans Jazz, a look at the best of the bayou.

Before Doc Grober began his successful career as a surgeon, he was a pianist in a Pennsylvania band called Ron Grober’s Quaker City Rhythm Kings. Grober and the Kings toured venues large and small across the northeast, from Philadelphia to New York. Eventually the Doc put his swiftly growing musical career on hold, taking some time off to get a degree as an orthopedic surgeon. As talented with a piano as he was with a scalpel, Doc Grober received the honor of becoming the Florida team physician for the New York and St. Lucie Mets.

Despite his incredible success as a physician, Doc Grober knew his passion would always be music. When the Pelican Yacht Club of Ft. Pierce asked the Doc to help them with an upcoming event that needed a jazz show, Grober rediscovered his love for the piano. Doc Grober moved quickly, organizing a group of talented local musicians to perform for the club. Even though the group didn’t have a name, Doc Grober and his impromptu jazz band were instantly celebrated by the media and members of the audience as a fresh new sound in the Florida music scene. The Doc knew he had to continue performing with the group, and named his band the Mudcats. The rest is history. Now, Doc Grober and the Mudcats return for another classic Lyric performance, this time exploring the sounds of Louisiana in New Orleans Jazz.
