Former White House chef John Moeller served three presidents and their families during his time as a White House chef from 1992 to 2005.

He talked about his interactions with the First Families and cooked a three course meal for guests Monday evening at Piper's Landing in Palm city. The private event was a preview to his appearance Wednesday evening at The Lyric Theatre in Stuart, in which he will cook on stage as part of his book tour promoting "Dining at the White House."

Guests Monday dined on winter squash soup, roasted filet mignon and a warm chocolate tarte with raspberry sauce.

"He's so impressive," said Irene Luneski, house manager of The Lyric and Moeller's aunt.Moeller had been visiting Luneski in the spring when she introduced him to John Loeser, the Lyric's executive producer.

"I could see the lightbulb go off over (Loesser's) head when I told him my nephew was a White House chef, Luneski said. "He was so excited to bring him to The Lyric."

Loesser joked about going to visit Moeller at his home in Lancaster, Pa.

"I found myself running around Lancaster searching for natural potatoes with him," Loesser said.
At the end of Monday's gathering, Moeller answered guests' questions, telling the crowd of more than 60 that of the three presidents he served, President George H. W. Bush and his family had the most expansive pallets because they were so well traveled.

President Bill Clinton and his family would come late to dinner most often, he said, and President George W. Bush was a simple "meat and potatoes kinda guy."
