“No, I mean I love doing records in two takes. When I went the first time into the studio in April, I recorded six tracks. I love going back home to get some distance and time in between so that I can think of what direction the record should go and what I am still missing. I definitely do not like to repeat songs, or to repeat styles. I want them to display a certain variety, while, at the same time I want them to fit, you know, to one story line of the song.”

Ciao to an Italian Christmas at the Lyric
November 20, 2015
Shelley Koppel/Your Voice News Staff Writer
STUART — When I called to speak with Franco Corso, he had just returned from a trip to his native Italy. The singer comes from San Remo and his big break came more than 15 years ago, in Italy, when he had the opportunity to open for one of his idols, Andrea Bocelli. The experience convinced Corso to come to the United States and bring the music of his homeland to Americans.
Corso will perform “My Italian Christmas” at the Lyric Theatre Dec. 5 for two shows. The Lyric favorite, who began singing in his church choir as a boy, has performed at the Eissey Theatre at Palm Beach State College, at the Maltz Jupiter Theatre and on tours to New York and the West Coast.
Corso spoke recently about his upcoming concert.
“It will be a collection of the classic Italian-American Christmas songs with a twist,” he said. “There will be new arrangements and different versions of the classic songs, like ‘O, Holy Night,’ ‘Silent Night,’ and ‘Jingle Bells.’ They will be performed half in Italian and half in English.”
Corso, who will appear with his three-piece band, loves the sounds of Christmas.
“Christmas is my favorite holiday,” he said. “It reminds me of when I was a little kid, back in Italy. We celebrated Christmas Eve with family and friends and had dinner after Midnight Mass. I remember sitting all together at the table for an Italian Christmas, eating specialties, cakes and homemade food.”
Santa or Pappo Natale, came down the chimney in Italy as he does in the United States.
“I stayed up all night on the 24th, trying to catch him,” Corso said. “In the end, I always fell asleep. My mother was good enough to put the presents out when I fell asleep at 4 or 5 a.m. They were there when I woke up.”
The upcoming concert is about more than the songs.
“It’s a tribute to the best holiday of the year,” he said. “It’s storytelling about Christmas in Italy, sharing traditions and the lifestyle during Christmas. The Lyric will set up Christmas settings and there will be a light show of some of the Christmas pictures of Italy.”
This is the first of two Lyric appearances for Corso this season. On Feb. 18, he will perform a Valentine’s concert called, “That’s Amore.”
“It will have the most romantic and passionate of love songs,” he said. “There will be songs from Dean Marin and Mario Lanza, songs like ‘Unchained Melody’ and ‘Can’t Help Falling in Love.’ We’re going to bring passionate love to the Lyric one more time.”
Franco Corso presents “My Italian Christmas” at the Lyric Theatre, 59 S.W. Flagler Ave., Stuart, Dec. 5 at 4 and 7 p.m. Tickets are $45. Call the box office at (772) 286-7827 or order online at www.lyrictheatre.com.

Tom Wopat & John Schneider: RETURN OF THE DUKES Christmas
at The Lyric Theatre Dec 16, 2015 6:00 pm
http://ls4.co/z8B
What better way to celebrate the holiday season than with the Duke boys in Tom Wopat & John Schneider: RETURN OF THE DUKES Christmas. Best known for their roles as Luke and Bo Duke on the wildly successful television show The Dukes of Hazzard, Tom Wopat and John Schneider have also forged careers as highly accomplished musicians. Now they’ve come together again to perform some of your favorite Christmas classics, including “Silver Bells,” “Sleigh Ride,” and “Santa Claus is Coming to Town,” all with a country twist.
The boys have been busy since The Dukes of Hazzard went off the air. First achieving fame as Luke Duke, Tom Wopat began his career as a musician in the late 1980s. Since he began performing, Wopat has recorded eight albums that experiment with a combination of country music and rock and roll styles. The promising musician quickly moved to the stage, appearing in a number of successful Broadway productions, including Chicago and 42nd Street. Wopat thrived on the stage, earning Tony Award nominations for his roles in A Catered Affair and Annie Get Your Gun. When he’s not performing on stage and in film, Wopat continues to write and produce music.
Known as Bo Duke by many fans, John Schneider began singing professionally in the early 1980s. Over his career, he has released ten studio albums and eighteen singles, including “Country Girls,” “What’s a Memory Like You,” and “I’ve Been Around Enough to Know,” which all enjoyed success on the top of the Billboard country singles charts. Schneider also continued his acting career, notably appearing as Clark Kent’s father in the recent TV series Smallville.
Now, after over twenty years of successful solo careers, Tom Wopat and John Schneider are reuniting just in time for Christmas. Tom Wopat & John Schneider: RETURN OF THE DUKES Christmas follows the late 2014 release of the duo’s Christmas album entitled Home for Christmas. The dream of completing a holiday country music album became a reality after the musicians raised an astonishing ,000 through a grassroots Kickstarter campaign. As HazzardNet describes, Wopat and Schneider “display an obvious ease around each other, clearly enjoying themselves and the music that unites them.” So, enjoy yourself this Christmas with the Duke brothers as they perform all of the holiday classics.

The Hot Sardines
at The Lyric Theatre Jan 21, 2016 7:00 pm
The spiciest jazz ensemble out of New York City, The Hot Sardines have brought the jazz of the 1920s, ‘30s, and ‘40s to a whole new generation with their innovative takes on classic standards. Led by Evan “Bibs” Palazzo with vocals by “Miz Elizabeth” Bougerol, The Hot Sardines combine sounds from New York, Paris, and New Orleans to create a sound different from any other. Called “one of the best jazz bands in NYC today” by Forbes Magazine, The Hot Sardines have already revolutionized the genre, and they’re just getting started.
The Hot Sardines grew out of a chance meeting between NYC-based Evan “Bibs” Palazzo and Parisian-born “Miz Elizabeth” Bougerol. Both Palazzo and Bougerol enjoyed successful careers outside of the music industry, with Palazzo working in film production and Bougerol developing a career as a writer. Despite their success, both Evan and “Miz Elizabeth” felt dissatisfied with their careers, set on fulfilling their dreams to perform in a jazz band. One day, after responding to the same Craigslist advertisement, the two aspiring musicians met and The Hot Sardines were born. While performing together at an open mic at Banjo Jim’s in the East Village, the duo met a tap dancer, whose driving rhythms became the backdrop of their developing project.
Since The Hot Sardines were formed, the band has skyrocketed into fame. Shortly after forming, the group received an anonymous inquiry for a jazz band willing to perform at a last minute gig. Incredibly, the gig ended up being the Midsummer’s Night Swing at Lincoln Center. Their energetic, innovative performance amazed the audience, earning them an overnight fan base and bringing them into the national spotlight. In October of last year, The Hot Sardines released their debut self-titled album featuring jazz classics and original compositions inspired by some of the genre’s greatest legends, including Fats Waller, Django Rheinhardt, and Louis Armstrong. The jazz ensemble has performed at the Montreal Jazz Festival, the Symphony Hall in Boston, and the famous Joe’s Pub in New York City among others. Their unique style and ability to translate the allure of 1920s jazz to a modern audience has earned them a reputation as one of the foremost jazz groups touring today. This season at The Lyric, The Hot Sardines will perform jazz standards as well as some of their own creations.
